How is it different?

The International Breeding Station's owner Dorel Borlovan bought his pigeons for his own use. He did not buy them with an eye to selling birds. When he purchased his various collections he was not looking for birds whose babies would sell in the U.S. for a lot of money. He was looking for proven breeders.

He quickly learned that racing champions that are sold have already demonstrated that they are not good breeders. If a race champion is breeding champions he will not be for sale, babies may be for sale, but not the ace breeder. Dorel acquired his great breeders by buying the entire loft of a present champion that had been on top for decades. He was not looking for a loft that had just one great pair and a few years of success. He was looking for lofts with a superior gene pool that had survived decades on top as they flew week in and week out against  thousands of lofts in Europe.

Dorel learned that if you cannot buy out the entire loft and you believe in the genetic pool of a loft you should purchase a full round of youngsters from the top breeders and races for three years in a row. This is how he choose to do it. When you acquire a round three years in a row you have essentially the same gene pool as the champion and great possibilities for duplicating his success. You can well imagine that pigeons of this quality to not come cheaply

Even thought some of the lofts are not yet well known in the US they are Europe's real and enduring champions. All the lofts Dorel chose to acquire birds have a solid reputation as a source loft for many other European champions.

Dorel’s intention was not to sell pigeons. However, after he acquired these birds he realized that other fanciers flying under different conditions on different courses would help him maintain and improve the quality of his now amazing  collection.

Health is important to Dorel and his birds are frequently tested. Samples are frequently sent to the top European vet Van Der Sluis. Dorel also feels It is extremely important to be able to guarantee the parentage of each bird--so all birds are breed in individual pens.
